Oak Bay has launched a new survey to improve how the district connects with its residents. The goal is to gather ideas, priorities, and views from the community to shape the future of public engagement.

On July 22, the district introduced a questionnaire aimed at collecting input that will help create a public engagement framework. This draft document is expected to be finished by fall. It will guide local staff and council on when, how, and why they should reach out to residents for feedback on important decisions, projects, and priorities.

The survey asks residents about the topics they care about most, what stops them from taking part in public discussions, new ideas for involving the community, and the best ways and times they prefer to engage.

The survey takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete and will remain open until August 15.

Oak Bay emphasizes the importance of public input in decision-making. According to the district’s website, “Citizens need to feel their input is valued. Processes must be clear to ensure feedback is received, considered, and reported on.”

Residents can complete the survey online at connect.oakbay.ca/public-engagement-framework.
