Whistler, BC, is set to host the world’s most elite mountain bikers for the 20th Anniversary of Crankworx Red Bull Joyride on August 16, 2025. Riders will perform extreme tricks and high-flying stunts in the famous “Boneyard” at Whistler Mountain Bike Park. This event is one of North America’s largest mountain biking competitions. Fans will see top athletes push the limits of skill, speed, and creativity.
Spectators can watch from the base area, known in winter as the Skier’s Plaza. For a closer view, fans can hike up the mountain and find a spot along the fence line. Crowds could exceed 30,000 people, so arriving early is key to securing a good vantage point.
This invite-only competition features the best 14 male riders and 6 female riders. Each athlete will perform two runs, with the highest score deciding the winner. The course, designed by Paddy Kaye and Joyride Bike Parks, is unique and allows riders to perform daring tricks. Among the men, Emil Johansson is the favorite, though rising stars will challenge him. High-flying Americans Nicholi Rogatkin and Kaidan Ingersoll are strong contenders, while local favorite Ben Thompson will have the crowd behind him.
The women’s field is equally competitive. Alma Wiggberg, winner of Crankworx Cairns, is a top choice. Canadian rider Natasha Miller is a crowd favorite, ready to perform radical tricks to reach the podium. Experienced American Shealen Reno will also challenge all competitors, promising intense action and competition.
The 20th anniversary of Crankworx Red Bull Joyride celebrates mountain biking skill, creativity, and athleticism. Fans can expect to see tricks never performed before in front of live crowds. With large audiences, extreme stunts, and world-class riders, this event is one of the highlights of the 2025 mountain biking calendar. Both veterans and new challengers will push the limits and thrill spectators, making it a must-see event in Whistler.
