The B.C. Aviation Museum is seeking public support for a new hangar in North Saanich. The expansion aims to protect historic aircraft and provide more space for visitors.

The museum currently operates from limited space, making it difficult to store and display its growing collection. Leaders say the new hangar will allow the museum to properly preserve historic planes and improve visitor experiences.

The planned facility will feature climate-controlled storage, interactive exhibits, and educational programs. Officials hope it will attract more tourists and aviation enthusiasts to the region.

Community members, local politicians, and aviation fans have been invited to back the project. Museum representatives are hosting fundraising events and outreach programs to gather support.

“We need a modern space to care for our aircraft,” said a museum spokesperson. “This hangar is not just a building—it’s a place where history comes alive.”

The museum’s collection includes vintage military planes, classic civilian aircraft, and rare models. Many of these aircraft are at risk of damage due to the current limited storage options. The new hangar will protect them from weather and environmental wear.

Officials say the project will also create educational opportunities for local schools. Students will have hands-on learning experiences about aviation history, engineering, and science.

The expansion could also boost local tourism. Visitors to North Saanich may spend more time exploring the region while attending museum events and programs.

Funding for the hangar will come from public donations, grants, and corporate sponsorships. Museum leaders are optimistic that community support will make the project possible.

The museum has a long history of preserving aviation heritage in British Columbia. Expanding the facility aligns with its mission to educate the public and safeguard historic aircraft for future generations.

Supporters say the new hangar will also allow the museum to host more events, including airshows, workshops, and special exhibitions. This could strengthen the museum’s role as a cultural and educational hub in North Saanich.

The B.C. Aviation Museum encourages residents and aviation enthusiasts to get involved. People can contribute through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness about the project.

The new hangar is expected to become a landmark in the region. Leaders hope it will inspire future generations to learn about aviation history and technology.

With proper community support, the B.C. Aviation Museum aims to complete the hangar project within the next few years, ensuring that British Columbia’s aviation heritage is preserved and celebrated.
