WorkSafeBC and the BC Coroners Service confirmed they are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of Quinton Watson, a local resident.

WorkSafeBC reported being notified of a serious workplace incident that occurred around 1:30 p.m. on August 15, in the 9700-block of Highway 97B.

A spokesperson for WorkSafeBC said the agency has launched an official investigation into the incident. They added that no further details could be shared at this stage.

The BC Coroners Service also confirmed it is investigating Watson’s death. A spokesperson for the agency said the case remains open, but no additional information is available at this time.

Quinton Watson’s death is a reminder of the risks present in certain work environments. Authorities urge employers and workers to follow strict safety guidelines to reduce the risk of accidents.

While details of the incident are limited, WorkSafeBC has the authority to issue orders, fines, or recommendations if safety violations are found during the investigation. The BC Coroners Service aims to determine the cause and manner of death, which may take several weeks.

Community members have expressed shock and sadness over the loss. Local authorities continue to focus on ensuring transparency and maintaining safety standards in workplaces across the region.

WorkSafeBC encourages anyone with information about workplace incidents to come forward. Public cooperation often helps investigators understand the circumstances and prevent similar accidents.

The BC Coroners Service works closely with WorkSafeBC to provide an accurate account of workplace deaths. Their joint efforts aim to enhance workplace safety and support affected families.
