Early Wednesday, a Dawson Creek shed fire destroyed multiple storage sheds near a busy commercial area.

Firefighters were called to the scene just before 4 a.m. in the 1600 block of Alaska Avenue, next to Home Hardware. Upon arrival, crews found three sheds fully engulfed in flames. Backup support was summoned, bringing a total of 14 firefighters to the scene.

Officials said the fire began in one shed and quickly spread toward a nearby warehouse. The team managed to prevent the fire from reaching the larger building, saving it from serious damage.

Fire authorities described the incident as suspicious. Dawson Creek RCMP have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.

The rapid response by the Dawson Creek Fire Department was key in preventing a potentially larger disaster. Firefighters worked quickly in difficult early morning conditions to control the fire before it could spread further.

Witnesses reported seeing heavy smoke and bright flames from a distance. Emergency crews cordoned off the area for safety while tackling the fire.

Authorities remind the public that fires in commercial areas can escalate quickly. The RCMP are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.

The Dawson Creek shed fire highlights ongoing concerns about fire safety in local business districts. Fire officials encourage businesses and property owners to review safety measures and ensure fire hazards are minimized.

Crews are reviewing the site to determine what started the fire. Investigators are examining the possibility of arson due to the suspicious nature of the incident. No injuries were reported, and damage appears limited to the three sheds, while the adjacent warehouse remains unharmed.

Dawson Creek RCMP have not yet released details on potential suspects or motives. They continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. The public is urged to remain alert and report any unusual activity in the area.

Fire officials praised the teamwork of all responding units for containing the fire quickly. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection and swift action in protecting both life and property.

Authorities have temporarily restricted access to the immediate area to allow a thorough investigation. Local businesses have been advised to take precautions and monitor their properties closely in the coming days.

The Dawson Creek shed fire underlines the crucial role of local emergency services. The RCMP and fire department continue to work together to understand the cause and prevent future incidents.
