Kelowna is set for a night of laughter as CBC’s The Debaters star, Charlie Demers, headlines a special comedy show at the Rotary Centre for the Arts’ Mary Irwin Theatre on Friday, October 3. Fans can expect sharp wit, clever storytelling, and unforgettable stand-up performances.

The event is part of the 2025–2026 RCA Presents season. Alongside Demers, the lineup features fast-rising Canadian comedian Faris Hytiaa and Okanagan favorite Alison Lujan. This mix of national and local talent promises an evening full of humor for all audiences.

Andrew Stauffer, RCA’s theatre programming director, praised Demers’ performance style. He said the comedian brings intelligence, charm, and thoughtful humor to the stage, calling him “a true Canadian gem.” Stauffer also highlighted Hytiaa and Lujan, noting that Hytiaa’s energy and Lujan’s quirky style add a unique flavor to the show.

Charlie Demers is a Juno-nominated comedian and BC Book Prize-nominated author. He has gained acclaim across Canada with performances at festivals, on national radio, and television. Demers has also co-starred in two Emmy-winning Netflix animated series, showcasing his versatile talent beyond stand-up comedy. His comedic style blends sharp observation with clever storytelling, appealing to audiences who enjoy humor with depth. Over the years, Demers has built a reputation as one of Canada’s most intelligent and relatable comedians, making him a sought-after headliner for live events across the country.

Opening the evening is Faris Hytiaa, a rising name in Canadian comedy. Known for his relaxed delivery and quick crowd work, Hytiaa has performed at major televised comedy festivals nationwide. By his fourth year, he had made appearances at all the top Canadian comedy stages and debuted on The Debaters in 2024. Hytiaa’s comedy is marked by his ability to engage audiences directly while maintaining a laid-back and approachable stage presence. Fans attending the Kelowna show can expect a mix of observational humor, witty one-liners, and lively audience interactions.

Rounding out the lineup is Alison Lujan, a comedian based in the Okanagan region. Lujan is known for her eccentric and unpredictable style, which adds a local touch to the event. Her performances often blend quirky storytelling with sharp comedic timing, making her a favorite among regional audiences. Her inclusion in the show highlights the Rotary Centre for the Arts’ commitment to showcasing local talent alongside national stars, creating a diverse and engaging comedy experience.

The evening promises a mix of national acclaim, rising talent, and local charm. Attendees can look forward to a full night of laughs, engaging stories, and dynamic performances. The show’s accessible humor and varied lineup aim to entertain audiences of all ages. Tickets for the event are available through the RCA’s website and at the Mary Irwin Theatre box office. Given Demers’ national profile and the growing popularity of both Hytiaa and Lujan, organizers expect a strong turnout.

This comedy night reflects the growing popularity of live stand-up in Kelowna and demonstrates the city’s commitment to bringing top Canadian talent to local stages. Fans of comedy will not want to miss this chance to see Charlie Demers and his fellow comedians in an intimate theatre setting.
