The much-loved Chilliwack Fair returns this summer with a brand-new theme—Barnyard Bash—from August 8 to 10 at Chilliwack Heritage Park. The fair, now in its 153rd year, promises a packed weekend full of fun for all ages.
Visitors can look forward to a wide range of activities designed to connect the community. From 4-H shows, garden and household displays, pony rides, to face painting and market stalls, there’s something for everyone. Families can meet farm animals, explore kids’ games, and enjoy live shows all day long.
Known as the second oldest continuously running fair in British Columbia, the event has deep roots in local culture and heritage. While it started with a focus on agriculture, the fair has grown into something much bigger over the years.
Organizers say the fair is now a full celebration of community spirit. It features everything from live music, rodeo action, food trucks, and art showcases, to new additions like the Vancouver Circus School, pig races, logging shows, and a ninja-style parkour course.
One of the highlights is the return of the BCRA Rodeo, beginning on Friday night. Fans can expect thrilling events like bull riding, saddle bronc, and bareback competitions. These will be followed by even more shows and rodeo events through the weekend. The full rodeo portion, run by the Chilliwack Rodeo Association, marks its 37th year and begins with opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Friday.
Kids and adults alike can enjoy rodeo favorites such as stick-horse races and mutton bustin’. These playful contests are all about fun and tradition, drawing big crowds each year. The indoor barns will stay open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., while the outdoor concert space will extend the fun until 11 p.m.
There’s also plenty in store for horse lovers. This year’s gymkhana event offers prize money for each age category (excluding ‘Leadline’) and a special buckle award. Winners in each event will receive payouts of $50, $45, and $40 for first, second, and third place. Right after the show, spectators can watch a precision performance from the West Coast Thunder Drill Team.
Beyond the competitions, there’s music from local artists, cooking demos on the kitchen stage, and fun photo booths. Community members are invited to come together and enjoy what organizers call a chance to “celebrate all this community has to offer.”
This blend of old and new makes the Chilliwack Fair a standout event. From its roots in agriculture to the thrilling rodeo and live shows, it remains a beloved summer tradition.
So mark your calendar and bring the whole family to Chilliwack Fair 2025. With three full days of exciting events, tasty food, friendly animals, and Western-themed fun, it’s set to be one of the summer’s top local attractions.
