Abbotsford police took strong steps to protect road safety during the busy long weekend. On Saturday, August 2, officers removed 11 drivers from the roads for speeding and impaired driving. This effort is part of their ongoing focus on keeping the community safe.

The police stopped seven impaired drivers. These people were caught driving while under the influence, putting themselves and others at risk. One driver was arrested for driving while prohibited, meaning they were not allowed to be behind the wheel.

Speeding was also a major issue. Four vehicles were impounded for going too fast. Among them was a fully loaded truck traveling at 103 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. This is more than double the speed limit and extremely dangerous.

The police department stressed how important it is for drivers to reach their destinations safely. “We cannot stress enough the need to drive safely and obey speed limits,” they said. Officers will keep working hard all weekend to protect road users.

Besides removing these drivers, police issued 35 tickets for other traffic violations. This shows their strong commitment to law enforcement.

So far this year, nearly 290 drivers have been removed from Abbotsford roads for speeding. This number highlights the ongoing problem speeding causes for local safety.

Police urge everyone to follow speed limits and never drive impaired. Their goal is to lower crashes and injuries caused by reckless driving.

The department reminds drivers that the summer long weekend is a time when more people are on the road. Extra caution is needed to prevent accidents.

Abbotsford police are dedicated to road safety and will continue their efforts throughout the year. They ask the public to help by driving responsibly.

The recent action against speeding and impaired drivers shows the police are serious about protecting the community. This benefits everyone by making the roads safer.

Long weekends often lead to more traffic and higher risks on the road. That is why police presence is increased during these times. It helps catch dangerous drivers before they cause harm.

In summary, Abbotsford police removed 11 drivers for speeding and impairment on August 2. They gave out 35 other tickets and will continue their efforts to keep roads safe.

Drivers are reminded to always follow the law. Speeding and impaired driving endanger lives and are not tolerated.
