Four small wildfires discovered west of Campbell River on Sunday are either under control or being held, according to wildfire officials. None of the fires threatened communities or infrastructure, and crews confirmed that the situation remains stable despite hot and dry weather. Police in Campbell River are asking the public for information after a man suffered life-threatening injuries in a downtown altercation. Authorities say the 31-year-old man was rushed to hospital following the incident early on August 2. Police responded quickly after receiving a report about the case. The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 1 and prompted a rapid response from local police. Campbell River has officially adopted a new community safety plan to guide city efforts over the next two years.
