As summer winds down, thousands of students across British Columbia are preparing to return to school. For many parents, this time brings both excitement and stress. Back-to-school shopping can be costly, with a 2016 Statistics Canada survey showing Canadian families spend an average of $480 on school supplies. Many parents agree this period often strains family budgets.

To help families, Sevenoaks Shopping Centre is hosting a free back-to-school event Abbotsford on August 27. The event promises fun, creativity, and useful resources for children and their parents. Students can explore their artistic side at a pencil case station. Each child will receive a free pencil case and art supplies to design their own unique pencil case for school.

A prize wheel will be available for visitors, offering a chance to win gift cards and other rewards. These activities make back-to-school preparations exciting and engaging for families. Representatives from Foundry Abbotsford and BeMorr Society will also be present to provide guidance on mental health resources. They will educate parents and students on managing stress, anxiety, and other challenges that may come during the school year.

Mental health support is an important part of preparing for school. By providing families with information and access to services, the event helps students start the academic year with confidence and well-being. This Abbotsford event blends creativity, learning, and practical support, giving families a fun way to ease into the school season. Free activities, prizes, and mental health resources all contribute to a positive back-to-school experience.

Parents can bring their children to explore creative projects, win rewards, and learn about available mental health services. Events like this make back-to-school preparation less stressful and more enjoyable. Families interested in attending can visit Sevenoaks Shopping Centre on August 27. Children can develop creative skills, and parents can gain insights into supporting their child’s mental health during the school year. This free back-to-school event Abbotsford aims to reduce stress and make back-to-school time a positive experience for everyone.
