A loose bull caused a major highway closure in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on Saturday afternoon. The animal was standing in the middle of Highway 11, stopping traffic in both directions.

Police reported that emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to handle the situation and ensure public safety. Officers worked closely with the bull’s owner to manage the animal and keep drivers away from the area.

Authorities asked motorists to avoid Highway 11 while emergency teams moved in. Traffic was held up for several hours as crews worked to contain the large animal safely.

A local veterinarian later tranquilized the bull, and officials confirmed the animal was unharmed. Police crews then began loading the bull into a trailer to remove it from the highway.

According to traffic updates, the northbound lane of Highway 11 has reopened. The southbound lane remains closed while crews finish securing the bull and clearing the road.

Authorities reminded drivers to stay alert in the area and follow traffic advisories. The incident highlights the importance of keeping large animals secured near roads to prevent accidents and disruptions.

Motorists traveling in the region should plan alternate routes until the highway is fully reopened. Emergency crews continue to monitor the scene to ensure no further safety risks.
