A 17-year-old teenager was arrested after a troubling series of pellet gun attacks that targeted pedestrians in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The attacks occurred on a Wednesday evening, when police received multiple calls from people reporting that they were fired at while walking near the city streets. These incidents raised concerns among residents, prompting a quick police response.

Police say the attacks involved a pellet gun or an airsoft gun, which are types of firearms that shoot small plastic pellets. While these guns are often seen as less dangerous than real firearms, they can still cause injuries and fear among people targeted. In this case, five separate calls were made to police, all reporting similar incidents.

According to the victims, each attack involved a light-colored SUV driving near pedestrians. Witnesses described the vehicle as carrying younger South Asian males. People who called the police said they either heard the sound of shots being fired or saw what looked like a firearm inside the vehicle.

One of the victims suffered a minor injury. Police say the injury is consistent with being hit by pellets from a pellet or airsoft gun. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

After receiving the calls, the police quickly worked to locate the vehicle involved. They found the SUV and identified the driver as a 17-year-old teen. The suspect was arrested without incident. Police continue to investigate the motive behind the attacks and whether the teen acted alone or with others in the vehicle.

The local community has expressed concern over the pellet gun attacks. Residents worry about their safety while walking in public spaces, especially after dark. Police have reminded everyone to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.

Pellet guns and airsoft guns can cause real harm, despite their reputation as “toy” weapons. Pellets can cause bruises, cuts, or even eye injuries if fired at close range. Because of this, police take any reports involving these guns seriously.

This arrest is part of a wider effort by Abbotsford police to prevent violence and protect citizens. Police say they are committed to keeping the city safe and will continue to investigate this case fully.

Officials also reminded parents and guardians to talk to their children about the dangers of using pellet guns in unsafe ways. Authorities warn that using such weapons to threaten or harm others can lead to serious legal consequences.

The police department encourages anyone with information about the attacks or similar incidents to come forward. Witness statements and tips are important for building a strong case and preventing future attacks.

As investigations continue, the teen remains in custody. Charges are expected to be filed soon, though police have not yet released full details about the charges.

These attacks come amid growing concerns about youth violence in the region. Police and community leaders are working together to find solutions to keep young people safe and away from harmful behaviors.

Residents in Abbotsford are urged to take safety precautions when walking outside, especially in less crowded areas. Keeping to well-lit streets, walking in groups, and staying aware of surroundings are simple steps to stay safe.

The pellet gun attacks have raised questions about how such incidents can be prevented in the future. Some experts suggest more education and stricter controls on pellet and airsoft guns. Others say community programs focused on youth engagement can reduce risks.

Overall, the swift police response and the arrest of the teen suspect bring some relief to those affected. However, the city remains watchful as the investigation moves forward.

Authorities say they will continue to monitor the situation closely and take action against anyone who threatens public safety.
