A stabbing in the Willow Point area of Campbell River has left one man in hospital and another in police custody. The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 1 and prompted a rapid response from local police.

According to local authorities, the attack happened near the intersection of Willow Creek Road and Montana Street. Officers quickly arrived on the scene after receiving reports of a disturbance in the area.

Police have confirmed that the people involved knew each other. The altercation resulted in one man suffering stab wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment. Officials have not yet shared details about his condition but say he received the necessary medical care.

Officers from the Campbell River detachment arrested one suspect at the scene. The individual was taken into custody without further incident. The identity of the suspect has not been released, and no charges have yet been announced.

The area was secured while officers carried out a full investigation. Evidence was collected, and witnesses were interviewed to help determine what led to the violent event. Police say they are not looking for additional suspects at this time, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

This incident adds to a growing list of violent events in the community, prompting some residents to call for more police presence in the area. However, investigators believe this was not a random attack, which may ease concerns for now.

Local law enforcement officials are continuing to gather information. They are urging anyone who saw the incident or has relevant information to come forward. Police say cooperation from the public is key to understanding what happened and why.

Cst. Maury Tyre of the Campbell River RCMP provided a brief update. He confirmed that both the suspect and the victim were familiar with one another. Tyre noted that investigators are working to piece together the exact sequence of events.

Although details remain limited, the swift action of emergency services helped prevent further harm. The victim was stabilized and taken to a nearby hospital. Police acted quickly to ensure the scene was safe and secure for residents.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and further updates may be shared as more details become available. As of now, no names have been released, and no court dates have been set.

Residents in the area reported a heavy police presence during the afternoon, with some roads briefly closed while officers examined the site. Most of the police activity had cleared by the evening.

This event highlights the importance of quick communication between the public and emergency responders. Local officials encourage citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to ensure community safety.

Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to contact them. This could provide valuable insight into the moments leading up to the stabbing.

For now, the suspect remains in custody as police complete their investigation. The motive behind the altercation is still under review, and officers are working to determine if any previous disputes played a role.

The community of Campbell River, though shaken by the incident, remains cooperative and responsive. Local leaders continue to emphasize the importance of working together to prevent violence and keep neighborhoods safe.
