Over 150 teen hockey players from B.C. and Yukon met in Chilliwack from July 24 to 27. They joined a top-level training camp run by BC Hockey.
This annual event, called the Program of Excellence, helps select players for future national competitions. The camp was held at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
The U18 girls group included 76 players born between 2008 and 2011. They aim to join Team B.C. at the 2025 U18 Women’s National Championship. That event will take place in Newfoundland in November.
The U16 boys group featured 76 players born in 2010. They are preparing for the 2025 WHL Cup. Details about that tournament will be shared soon.
During the camp, players trained hard with drills, games, and off-ice lessons. Coaches looked for strong skills, teamwork, and good habits.
Many top hockey players have come through this program. Some went on to play in the WHL, NCAA, or on national teams.
The camp also taught players about health, nutrition, and mindset. This helped them grow as athletes and people.
Final team rosters will be announced soon. Those selected will move forward in the training path.
This event showed the strong future of hockey in B.C. and Yukon. The teen hockey players gave their best—and took one big step closer to their dreams.
