Police are investigating the discovery of a missing woman’s body in Dawson Creek as a suspected homicide.

Emily Ogden, 24, was reported missing from Fort St. John on March 29. Her remains were recovered on April 14 in Dawson Creek, prompting local authorities to launch a suspicious death investigation.

The case has now been formally treated as a homicide. The RCMP E Division major crime section has taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Ogden’s death.

Staff Sgt. Kris Clark of the B.C. RCMP emphasized the importance of public assistance. He said authorities want to know if anyone saw or heard from Ogden during the period she was missing until her body was found.

“The information from the public could be crucial in helping us solve this case,” Clark stated.

Local police have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700. Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with potential witnesses to gather more details.

The community has expressed shock over the incident, as Ogden was known locally and her disappearance raised immediate concern. Residents are being advised to remain vigilant and report any information that could aid the investigation.

While details about the circumstances of Ogden’s death have not been released, police confirmed that no arrests have been made yet. They continue to treat the case as an active homicide investigation.

This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding public safety in the region. Law enforcement authorities have stepped up patrols and are coordinating with neighboring jurisdictions to ensure thorough coverage and support in the investigation.

Police noted that similar cases in the region have shown the value of timely public reporting. They encouraged anyone who may have seen unusual activity in Fort St. John or Dawson Creek around the end of March and early April to come forward.

The RCMP E Division major crime section has the expertise to handle complex investigations of this nature, including analyzing forensic evidence and conducting detailed interviews. Their involvement signals the seriousness with which authorities are approaching the case.

Ogden’s family has requested privacy while cooperating with law enforcement. Support services have been offered to those affected by the tragedy.

Authorities continue to gather information, and updates will be provided as the investigation progresses. Residents are urged to stay alert and share any observations that could assist in solving the homicide.

This investigation underscores the importance of community involvement in solving serious crimes. Even small pieces of information can help build a clearer picture of events and bring resolution to families affected by tragedy.

Anyone with knowledge of the case is urged to contact Dawson Creek RCMP directly at 250-784-3700 to provide tips. Authorities stress that all information will be treated confidentially and could be pivotal in advancing the investigation.
