Delta is moving forward with plans to create a new brand identity for Ladner Village. The city is looking for expert consultants to help shape a strategy that will highlight the village’s unique character, draw more visitors, and support local businesses.

The city recently published a request for proposals (RFP) inviting qualified firms to submit bids. These firms must have experience in community branding and placemaking. The goal is to develop a strong, lasting brand that reflects Ladner Village’s charm and history.

This project is part of a larger plan. It may lead to further changes like improved signs and clear wayfinding tools. These changes aim to help both locals and tourists navigate the area more easily. They also seek to make the village more welcoming and memorable.

Delta officials say they want the new branding to reflect Ladner Village’s roots as a historic, coastal, and tight-knit community. They are asking for a unique logo and a catchy tagline that will represent the area across all platforms—both digital and physical.

The city hopes this new look will support a bigger effort to revitalize the village and its waterfront. A spokesperson for the city said that better signs and visual identity will help people find and enjoy Ladner Village. It will also support inclusion and accessibility for all who visit.

A strong part of the plan is creating a design that feels friendly and easy to connect with. The city wants the logo and signs to show Ladner’s story in a clear and simple way. This includes showing off its fishing past, its riverside views, and its small-town feel.

Delta’s leadership has also approved land rezoning in the area. This opens the door for more changes ahead. On Chisholm Street, city-owned land is now zoned for mixed uses. This could include shops, homes, or even a hotel. Officials hope these updates will help the area grow while keeping its original character.

In 2023, the city made major land purchases in key parts of Ladner Village. These included properties on Chisholm and Delta Streets. When combined with land already owned by the city, these new plots now make up a 1.2-acre site. This site is ready for future development.

Officials say that the branding and signage plan will support these new projects. The city wants to create a consistent and positive experience for everyone who visits or lives in the village. This means clear signs, a unified visual identity, and an inviting look for streets, shops, and parks.

City leaders believe that strong branding will bring long-term benefits. It can help increase tourism and support local businesses. It can also raise awareness about Ladner’s history and natural beauty.

Delta is looking for a team that can mix creative ideas with real-world planning. The chosen consultants will need to meet the needs of a diverse group. This includes families, seniors, tourists, and longtime residents.

As the project moves forward, Delta says it will work with the community to make sure the new brand reflects what people love about Ladner. The city wants to keep the village’s heritage alive while making it ready for the future.

Bids for the project are now open, and the city is expected to review them in the coming weeks. Once a team is selected, work on the new branding and wayfinding strategy will begin.

With this step, Delta is hoping to give Ladner Village the attention it deserves. By building a clear and appealing identity, the city aims to attract more visitors and ensure the village continues to thrive for years to come.
