The Fort St. John RCMP are actively investigating multiple break-ins and arson attacks linked to local barbershops. Authorities are working to uncover the details behind a troubling string of incidents that have affected the community.
On July 24, video footage was shared showing what is believed to be evidence of arson at Golden Hands Barbershop. The clip captured a white flat-deck truck leaving the parking lot of the barbershop as the building burned behind it. Shortly afterward, the same vehicle was spotted heading to The Barbershop FSJ, where further damage was reported. Both these attacks took place in the early morning hours of July 12.
The RCMP have now revealed that a third break-in took place one week earlier, on July 5, at about 2:20 a.m. Surveillance footage shows a suspect breaking into another barbershop located near the intersection of 96A Street and 93 Avenue in Fort St. John.
Investigators have confirmed that the fire at Golden Hands Barbershop was caused deliberately, ruling it an arson case. Police also believe the same individual or group was responsible for damaging The Barbershop FSJ, as the white flat-deck truck was present at both scenes during the attacks.
The owners of Golden Hands Barbershop posted images on social media showing a broken window and fire debris, describing the incident as a violation of their business and community trust.
The Fort St. John RCMP continue their investigation and urge anyone with information about these incidents, the suspect, or the vehicle involved to contact them directly at 250-787-8100.
