Just minutes from the city, a $10 million Oak Bay oceanfront mansion offers the perfect mix of privacy, luxury, and scenic beauty. Nestled on a prestigious cul-de-sac in the Uplands neighbourhood, this Tudor-style home sits on more than half an acre with over 200 feet of private shoreline.

“This property is all about privacy and location, location, location,” says listing agent Jason Binab. “It has rare south-facing exposure with all-day sun and shaded areas, thanks to mature trees and beautiful landscaping.”

Built in 1980 by noted Victoria architect Pamela Charlesworth, the home underwent major renovations in 1999 and the early 2000s. These upgrades added guest quarters, a breezeway, and a double-car garage with a multi-purpose room above. The contemporary renovations preserved the elegance and charm of the original English cottage design.

The homeowners have lived on the property for 26 years, describing it as a private resort. “It feels like living in the country while being so close to the city,” they said. “The gardens are like Butchart Gardens, with stunning views of Mount Baker, sunrises, and our private beach—perfect for kayaking.”

The interior includes an open-concept chef’s kitchen, a family room with a gas fireplace, and an adjacent dining area ideal for both family meals and entertaining. A large mudroom with a separate entry was added in 2010, offering convenience after beach adventures.

The main floor also features a formal living room with a gas fireplace and an English estate-inspired wood-paneled den. The guest suite sits on the opposite wing, and all rooms offer large windows with panoramic views of the Salish Sea.

Upstairs, the luxurious primary retreat boasts a balcony and vaulted floor-to-ceiling windows to capture stunning ocean views. The six-piece bathroom includes arched doorways, double vanities, a walk-in shower, and a large soaker tub overlooking the water. Two additional bedrooms and another full bathroom were designed to maximize the coastal scenery.

Outside, the property is a showcase of coastal living. Multiple patios, manicured lawns, hand-built stone walls, and an outdoor kitchen lead to a private hot tub with breathtaking sea views. Direct access to a sandy, sheltered beach cove enhances the home’s resort-like feel.

The meticulously maintained garden, designed by Lily Maxwell, adds to the property’s charm. The homeowners enjoyed kayaking to the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, walking to Willows Beach, and golfing nearby. However, they now live in Alberta and use the home less than two months each year.

Sitting on the sunlit point that extends into the water, the listing agent notes the home’s natural wonders. “I’ve seen killer whales and seals here, and it’s a special spot for reflection,” Binab said.

This Oak Bay oceanfront mansion blends country-like privacy with luxury living, panoramic views, and prime access to Victoria’s amenities. It offers a rare opportunity for buyers seeking a secluded yet accessible coastal retreat.
