A Pitt Meadows teacher facing child pornography charges will appear in court next month. Lovesh Ramsaha, 30, had his first court appearance scheduled for Thursday, August 21, but it was postponed. His next appearance is set for Thursday, September 11, to set a trial date.
Ramsaha faces four charges announced on August 5. They include internet luring of a child under 18, making or publishing child pornography, importing or distributing child pornography, and providing sexually explicit material to a child under 18.
He worked as a teacher at Pitt Meadows Secondary School. The alleged crimes are said to have occurred in or near Pitt Meadows between August 1, 2024, and February 18, 2025.
The Ridge Meadows RCMP confirmed they received a complaint in February 2025 about sexual offences involving a teacher. They immediately launched an investigation into the matter.
The school principal, Colin Sharpe, sent a letter to families at Pitt Meadows Secondary. The letter stated that once the school district learned about the allegations, Ramsaha was removed from his teaching duties.
Both the Ridge Meadows RCMP and the school district have declined to comment further because the case is before the courts.
People charged with a criminal offence are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The BC Prosecution Service has also confirmed that a publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the victim or victims.
Authorities stress that the investigation remains ongoing. More details will become available once the court process moves forward.
