White Rock RCMP are seeking public assistance after a sexual assault allegedly occurred in broad daylight Friday morning.
The incident took place around 10 a.m. near the stairs in the 14900 block of Prospect Avenue. Police were notified around 11:30 a.m. that the victim had been punched and groped by a stranger.
The suspect fled southbound through the park, leaving the victim with minor physical injuries. No further injuries were reported.
The Integrated Forensic Identification Service attended the scene to process evidence, and officers canvassed the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.
Police described the suspect as a white man in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up, khaki pants, and white shoes at the time of the incident.
“Given the violent nature of this assault, we are encouraging members of our community to exercise vigilance while our investigators work to identify and locate the suspect,” said Staff Sgt. Rob Dixon, detachment commander for White Rock RCMP.
Authorities are urging anyone with dash cam or surveillance video from the area to contact the White Rock RCMP at 778-545-4800. When providing tips, people should quote file number 2025-5501.
The RCMP emphasized the importance of timely information from the public to ensure the suspect is identified and held accountable. Residents are encouraged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity in the area.
Police continue to investigate and patrol the surrounding neighbourhood to ensure public safety and to gather any additional evidence that may aid the investigation.
