Two men died and another was seriously hurt after a truck crashed down an embankment near Mission on Thursday evening, police say.

The crash happened on Norrish Creek Forest Service Road around 9 p.m. Officers were alerted when an injured man flagged down a passing driver.

The man told police he had been a passenger in a red Ford Ranger truck with two friends when the vehicle went off the gravel road. The crash site was about seven kilometers in.

Mission Search and Rescue teams joined the RCMP to find the truck. Despite the rough terrain and darkness, they located the vehicle about 300 feet down an embankment, lying in a creek.

Both friends who stayed inside the truck died at the scene. The man who reached the road was seriously injured but his life is not in danger.

All three men were 22 years old and lived in Abbotsford. They had been camping nearby with other friends.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Anyone who saw the red Ford Ranger with a black canopy in the area on Thursday is asked to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161. Quote file number 25-8509.
