A tragic motorcyclist crash in Langley has left one person dead and several others injured. Police confirmed the deadly collision happened on Wednesday evening at a busy intersection, forcing long road closures and drawing a major emergency response.

The crash took place just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of 200 Street and 80 Avenue. According to police, traffic was heavy at the time, which made the scene even more chaotic. Witnesses reported long delays as officers worked to secure the area and gather details about what caused the accident.

Police say several vehicles were involved in the crash. A motorcyclist died at the scene, while others were rushed to hospital. Authorities have not shared details about the number of people injured or the extent of their injuries, but confirmed that paramedics provided immediate medical support.

The seriousness of the collision meant that emergency crews had to close down parts of the intersection. Drivers in the area were urged to take alternate routes, with delays expected for hours. Officers placed barriers around the crash site to allow investigators to carry out a full examination.

Langley RCMP confirmed that officers remain on site, working to understand what led to the fatal collision. At this stage, it is unclear if speed, weather, or driver impairment played a role. Crash analysts were called to collect evidence, map the scene, and take witness statements.

Authorities say investigations like this can take several hours or even days before more details are released. Police stressed that it is too early to confirm fault or responsibility, but noted that all information will be shared once the review is complete.

The location of the crash at 200 Street and 80 Avenue is a well-known busy intersection in Langley. With the evening rush underway, many drivers were caught in long traffic jams as police diverted vehicles away from the area.

Local residents say the intersection is often congested, with heavy commuter traffic, turning lanes, and ongoing construction adding to the risks. The crash has sparked concerns among drivers and community members about road safety in the area, especially for motorcyclists who remain more vulnerable in collisions.

Police have urged drivers to remain patient and cautious while road closures remain in effect. They are also reminding motorists to pay attention at intersections, maintain safe distances, and be aware of motorcycles and smaller vehicles on the road.

Police say closures at the site could remain in place for several more hours as crash investigators work through the night. Authorities are expected to provide updates once more information is available, including details from BC Emergency Health Services about those transported to hospital.

The identity of the deceased motorcyclist has not yet been released, as police work to notify next of kin. Out of respect for the family, authorities say no further personal details will be shared until the formal process is complete.

The fatal crash serves as another reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on busy roads. Unlike drivers in cars, riders are more exposed and more likely to suffer serious injuries in collisions. Police are using this incident to encourage all road users to stay alert, follow speed limits, and share the road responsibly.

For now, Langley RCMP is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward and assist investigators. Their accounts may help provide answers about how the tragic incident unfolded.

As the community reacts to the news, many are mourning the loss of a life cut short. While the investigation continues, police stress that safety remains the top priority, and they hope this tragedy will remind all drivers to exercise caution, especially during peak traffic hours.
