Kamloops police are appealing to the public for information and video footage following a violent assault that left one man fighting for his life. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, drawing a large police response and launching a major investigation.

Shortly after 5 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Notre Dame Drive. On arrival, they discovered a 39-year-old man suffering from a severe injury. Emergency responders transported him to hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Authorities have not released the man’s identity but confirmed that his family has been notified.

Police say the case is being treated as an aggravated assault. Several specialized units are now assisting in the investigation. According to officials, members of the Serious Crime Unit, the General Investigation Section, and forensic specialists have joined frontline officers to examine evidence and gather witness accounts. Their immediate priority is to establish what led to the assault and who may be responsible.

Investigators believe the incident took place near a bus stop on Notre Dame Drive, close to Laval Crescent. Because of the location and timing, police think there may be drivers, pedestrians, or commuters who unknowingly witnessed key moments. They are urging anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.

Authorities are also asking local businesses and residents with surveillance cameras to review their footage from the early morning hours. Even a brief video clip could provide important details about the sequence of events or the movements of people in the area. Police say such evidence often plays a crucial role in solving serious crimes.

In their public appeal, investigators stressed that community assistance is vital at this stage. The request extends to anyone who may have observed unusual activity in the neighborhood, no matter how small it might seem. Witness accounts, combined with digital evidence, can help reconstruct the timeline and lead officers toward those responsible.

The assault has unsettled many residents in Kamloops, a city that has seen a series of public safety concerns in recent years. While police did not provide details about a possible motive or suspect, they emphasized that every tip will be followed up. Officers continue to canvass the area, interview potential witnesses, and collect forensic evidence.

Safety experts note that early-morning incidents like this are often more difficult to investigate because there are fewer bystanders. This makes public cooperation with police appeals especially important. By coming forward with information, locals can support law enforcement and help bring resolution to the victim’s family.

As of now, no arrests have been announced. The investigation remains in its early stages, and police are still piecing together the circumstances surrounding the attack. Officers confirmed that more updates will be shared as soon as reliable information becomes available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000. Callers should reference file number 2025-32253 to ensure their information is directed to the correct investigators. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can also provide tips through established community crime reporting services.

Residents in the area are encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior. Police say visible patrols will continue in the neighborhood as the investigation unfolds. Community members are being reassured that public safety remains a top priority.

The incident highlights once again the importance of collaboration between citizens and law enforcement. A single eyewitness account or short video clip can often change the course of a case, turning unanswered questions into actionable leads. In Kamloops, investigators hope that community involvement will soon shed light on what happened during the early morning assault.
