Cranbrook RCMP are asking the public for assistance in finding a stolen blue 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The vehicle, registered in British Columbia with license plate NT242R, was last seen in the Baynes Lake area at the start of August. Authorities report that the car has significant front-end damage. The Supreme Court of Canada has ordered an acquittal for a Cranbrook woman in the case of a toddler who drowned while under her care in 2011. This decision clears Tammy Bouvette’s criminal conviction, ending a decade-long legal battle. Police in Cranbrook have issued a public alert after seeing a rise in online exploitation cases involving young girls. Starting October 27, travelers can fly direct between Kelowna and Cranbrook. This new route was announced by Pacific Coastal Airlines on August 6. Johnathan Richardson, Vice President of Commercial at Pacific Coastal Airlines, said the new schedule offers flights in the preferred morning and afternoon times. He added that the service improves regional air access in the Okanagan. It also allows easy one-stop travel between the Kootenays and Vancouver Island. Cranbrook is preparing for a major summer event as Lake Koocanusa gets set to host the 2025 BC Wakesurf Championships.
