Ryan Tougas, a top BMX cyclist from Pitt Meadows, is set to compete for Canada at the 2025 UCI BMX Racing World Championships. The international event takes place this weekend, August 2 and 3, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Athletes from around the globe will race for the rainbow jersey — a symbol of becoming a UCI World Champion. Learning about the past can be exciting and fun, especially in communities like Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Their local museums offer many ways to connect with history through stories, artifacts, and family-friendly events. The Maple Ridge Historical Society, formed in 1957, runs both the Maple Ridge Museum and the Haney House Museum. Together, they help preserve the stories of the local area through more than 15,000 historical objects in their collection.
