Kamloops Search Rescue teams were active on the evening of Saturday, July 19, responding to two separate calls near Kamloops Lake. The first call came at about 6:45 p.m., when BC Emergency Health Services asked for help with a dirt biker who had hurt his shoulder. The injured rider managed to contact the RCMP just before the rescue team arrived at a location southwest of Kamloops. A companion riding with the injured biker helped guide the rescue team to the injured man. However, this companion needed help himself and was safely escorted back to Duffy Lake by the rescue team.…

The Beaufort Delta region in the Northwest Territories will come alive next month with three music festivals, giving locals many nights to enjoy live music and dance. The celebrations begin on August 1 and 2 with the 40th annual Midway Lake Music Festival. This event takes place south of Fort McPherson along the Dempster Highway. Family and friends gathered to remember Bailey McCourt, a Kelowna mother of two, weeks after her tragic death in a daylight attack. The memorial took place Saturday night at Mission Sports Field. Attendees shared memories and tied posters and pictures of the 32-year-old woman to the baseball diamond fences. In 2024, 144 workers in Coquitlam earned more than $150,000, showing a notable rise in city salaries compared to previous years. This comes as the city’s debt dropped and tax revenue increased, reflecting a stronger financial position. Among the highest-paid city officials was Chief Administrative Officer Raul Allueva, whose total pay, including expenses, reached $422,803.
