Grammy-winning singer Nelly Furtado amazed fans at the Boardmasters Festival in Cornwall on Saturday with a performance full of energy and style. The 46-year-old singer stepped onstage in a ruffled hot-pant and green halter-top outfit by Laruicci. She completed her bold look with intricately beaded knee-high boots and an olive-green faux fur shrug from Hesta. Her accessories, featuring sculptural pieces from Vitaly and Alexis Bittar, sparkled under the stage lights. Furtado added shield-style Ray-Ban sunglasses for a striking, cinematic appearance. She commanded attention even before singing, leaning into the crowd between songs, exchanging smiles and words with fans.

Furtado later shared highlights on Instagram Stories, including a repost from a festival-goer calling her “the loveliest queen.” The performance shows why she continues to captivate audiences with both music and stage presence.

The set comes after Furtado addressed speculation about her appearance earlier this year. In January, she posted a photo in an orange bikini, confirming she had never had plastic surgery or cosmetic injections, except for new veneers. “This year I became aware of the aesthetic pressure of my work in a brand new way,” she wrote. “At the same time, I experienced new levels of self-love and confidence from within.” Her message stressed body neutrality and authenticity. She encouraged fans to “express yourself freely, celebrate your uniqueness, and know that it’s perfectly OK to be OK with what you see in the mirror. It’s also OK to want something different.”

Furtado has openly discussed representation issues in the pop industry. She recalled that early-2000s magazines would digitally lighten her skin and narrow her hips without permission. “I have olive skin, and they’d lighten it a lot,” she told People last year. “They would take my hips down all the time.”

After taking a long break to raise her three children, Furtado returned to music in 2024 with renewed creative freedom. She shared with NPR that she now has “a clear sense of detachment and boundaries” and believes “conflict can make magic.”

At the festival, Furtado’s confidence, resilience, and playful experimentation were evident. Fans experienced her unique mix of bold fashion, memorable music, and genuine connection. Her Boardmasters performance reaffirmed why she remains one of pop’s most enduring voices, blending authenticity and artistry on stage. Her presence highlighted the importance of self-expression in modern pop culture, reminding audiences that music is about both sound and identity. Furtado’s performance showed that confidence, style, and authenticity remain at the core of her enduring appeal.
