Whistler Blackcomb is preparing for a landmark winter as the resort gears up for its 60th anniversary ski season. The official target opening date for the 2025–26 season is November 21, pending weather conditions. Skiers and snowboarders can look forward to an extended season that is expected to run through May, offering more than six months of mountain adventure.

This anniversary year is especially important for the resort, which has become one of the most recognized ski destinations in the world. To mark the milestone, Whistler Blackcomb will introduce “Wonder Routes,” a network of trails and stops designed to highlight not only the natural beauty of the mountains but also the vibrant après-ski culture. These routes are expected to enhance the visitor experience by guiding guests through iconic spots on the mountain, offering both scenic value and cultural touchpoints.

The celebrations will also include the return of the World Ski and Snowboard Festival, scheduled for April. This popular event brings together athletes, artists, and fans for a mix of sports competitions, music performances, and cultural showcases. For many, it is one of the highlights of the Whistler Blackcomb calendar and a fitting way to celebrate six decades of mountain history.

As preparations continue, Epic Passes are on sale for the 2025–26 season. Skiers and riders can lock in the best prices of the year until September 1. Adult passes are currently priced at $1,075 USD, while child passes are available at $548 USD. These passes not only provide unlimited access to Whistler Blackcomb but also include entry to more than 90 resorts across North America, Europe, and Australia.

A new feature this year is the addition of “Epic Friend Tickets.” Passholders will receive between six and ten vouchers that can be shared with friends. Each voucher offers a 50-percent discount on lift tickets. An added incentive is that the full value of a discounted ticket can be applied toward the purchase of a 2026–27 Epic Pass, making it easier for newcomers to join the community.

Beyond lift access, Epic Pass holders enjoy a range of benefits through Epic Mountain Rewards. These include 20 percent savings on food, lodging, rentals, and ski or snowboard lessons. The pass also connects with the My Epic app, giving users digital lift tickets, real-time trail maps, and the ability to track friends on the mountain. This combination of perks makes the pass a key part of planning for a full season of skiing and snowboarding.

The November 21 opening date is an exciting marker for winter enthusiasts, but it remains subject to weather and snow conditions. Resort officials stress that the safety of guests and staff is always the top priority, and early-season weather will determine whether lifts can begin turning as planned.

For many in the ski community, the opening of Whistler Blackcomb signals the true start of the North American ski season. The resort’s size, varied terrain, and reputation draw visitors from around the globe. With more than six months of skiing and snowboarding expected, the 2025–26 season promises to be one of the longest and most memorable in the resort’s history.

As Whistler Blackcomb marks 60 years of mountain adventure, the mix of new Wonder Routes, returning festivals, and expanded passholder benefits reflects a balance of tradition and innovation. For those planning to visit, the coming winter offers not only excellent skiing and snowboarding but also the chance to be part of a historic season at one of the world’s most iconic ski resorts.
