A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a TransLink bus in Surrey on Saturday morning. The incident happened near the intersection of Highway 10 and King George Boulevard just after 5 a.m.

The bus was out of service at the time of the collision. B.C. Emergency Health Services quickly responded and transported the injured person to a hospital. As of 5:30 p.m., there were no updates on their condition.

King George Boulevard remained closed for several hours while emergency crews secured the scene and conducted initial investigations. The closure caused significant traffic disruptions in the area during the morning commute.

The driver of the bus stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Surrey Police Service’s collision investigation unit is leading the probe. Early reports did not reveal what caused the crash.

This incident adds to a series of high-profile bus accidents in the region this year. In July, an out-of-service TransLink bus crashed into a yard in Surrey. Another crash in September left two people hospitalized after a bus veered into a bus stop. Earlier this summer, a four-year-old child tragically died in a collision at Horseshoe Bay involving a TransLink bus.

Authorities continue to stress the importance of road safety for both pedestrians and drivers. Police are urging anyone with information about the Saturday crash to come forward.

The Surrey community has expressed concern over bus safety following these repeated incidents. TransLink has been reviewing its safety protocols, including driver training and vehicle maintenance checks, to prevent future accidents.

Officials said the investigation could take several days as they gather evidence and interview witnesses. They also noted that public updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

Residents near King George Boulevard reported heavy traffic delays following the crash. Commuters were advised to seek alternative routes while police and emergency crews worked to reopen the road.

The Surrey Police Service reminded the public to remain cautious around transit vehicles and pedestrian crossings. Safety measures, such as crosswalks and traffic signals, play a critical role in preventing accidents, especially during early morning and late-night hours.

This crash is a reminder of the risks pedestrians face and the importance of vigilance for both walkers and drivers. Surrey authorities continue to monitor traffic safety and are coordinating with transit operators to enhance preventive measures.

The Surrey bus crash investigation remains ongoing, with authorities committed to determining the exact cause. Updates will be shared once more details are confirmed, as the community awaits clarity on the pedestrian’s condition and the circumstances of the collision.
